Celt Report
Cootehill opened the scoring through a fine effort from Shane Sexton. Drumgoon playing against a stiff breeze in the opening half went ahead through frees from Keith Fannin and Goalkeeper Corey Smith before Cootehill levelled through a free from Cian Smith. Drumgoon went on to dominate the remainder of the first half but failed to convert their dominance onto the scoreboard. Points from Adrian McCluskey and Michael McDonald put them 2 points in front before a free from Jake Whyte left the minimum between the sides at the break. Cootehill started the second half much the brighter. A well taken Ben McGahan point was followed by a Jake Whyte free which left them in front with 3 minutes played in the second half. Conor Moynagh levelled the sides with a left footed effort but Cootehill would respond through a fortuitous goal from Dermie Connolly. An effort from the standside of the pitch dropped short of the Drumgoon Goal and Connolly was first to respond and fist the ball to the roof of the Drumgoon net. The momentum was now firmly with Cootehill but Drumgoon responded in great fashion. Conor Moynagh kicked 2 points from play before Keith Fannin added a free to level the sides once again. With time ticking on, the home-side were looking the most likely to go on and take all three points.
Cootehill were reduced to 14 after midfielder Cillian McGahan received a second yellow card. Cootehill did go back in front through a super score from Enda Hessin with the outside of his right boot but Drumgoon once more responded and pushed on for a fully deserved win.
Keith Fannin drew the sides level at 0-09 to 1-06 before Dylan Hand found himself in front of goal and fisted the ball between the sticks to put Drumgoon back in front for the first time since the half-time interval. Drumgoon were also reduced to14 as time was drawing to a close as their Midfielder Conal Farrell received a black card, but the team held on with a brilliant defensive effort led by 17 & 18 year old corner backs in Matthew McDermott and Euan Crossan
