Minors v Cornafean

Drumgoon - Cornafean
28 Sep 2024 - 14:00Stradone

Both sides served up a feast of football as Drumgoon deservedly pulled away in the end after an enthralling encounter. The first half was very even as both sides played lots of fast open free flowing football. Drumgoon’s goals came from Charlie Boylan after very good intricate team work and an individual effort from Lee Murray who soloed all of 40 metres to shoot low and hard to the net to leave the scores 2-06 each at the break. In the second half Matthew Mc Dermott continued to be a powerhouse in midfield and up front, the skilful Ciaran Clerkin was giving an exhibition in the art of finishing. Ciaran scored 7 of his 9 point tally in this half. With Cornafean continuing to put up a stout battle, they finally could breathe a little easier when the strong running Cameron Reilly shot a powerful drive to the corner of the net, much to the delight of the large Drumgoon support. They now face another tough battle in the final with Blackwater Gaels an amalgamation of Mountnugent, Muintear Connacht and Maghera.
